CSU–Pueblo undergraduate engineering program ranks among nation’s top 75
PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo’s undergraduate engineering program was ranked among the nation’s top 75 by U.S. News and World Report, moving up more than 20 spots from last year’s rankings. The undergraduate rankings include schools that do not offer a doctoral degree in engineering. CSU-Pueblo tied for 74th up from 97th in the 2017 rankings. The U.S. Air Force Academy was the only other Colorado school in this list at #5. U.S. News has separate rankings for undergraduate engineering programs at colleges that offer doctoral degrees in engineering and for engineering programs at colleges where the terminal degree in engineering is a bachelor's or master's degree
“We are pleased to receive this recognition from our peers, and we are proud of the contributions we make to Pueblo and southern Colorado,” said Dr. Jane Fraser, chair of engineering. “Our graduates are employed in local companies and in companies throughout Colorado, the U.S., and around the world.”
The U.S. News rankings of the undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET are based on the judgments of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions. U.S. News surveyed engineering school deans and faculty members in spring 2017 and asked them to rate each program they were familiar with on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished) for these rankings. Two peer assessment surveys were sent to each ABET-accredited engineering program.
The Department of Engineering offers four engineering degrees:
- The Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Mechatronics specialization (BSE-Mechatronics) is a four-year program that can be completed at CSU-Pueblo.
- The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) is a four-year program that can be completed at CSU-Pueblo.
- The Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering (MSISE) is a 33-hour program
- The Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) is a 33-hour program with two emphasis areas: Mechatronics and Railroad Engineering.
