Colorado State University-Pueblo sponsors alumni, student events at Colorado State Fair

PUEBLO - Colorado State University-Pueblo will sponsor events for alumni and area students as part of the 11-day Colorado State Fair, Aug. 25 - Sept. 4.

CSU-Pueblo will sponsor Back to School Fridays at the Colorado State Fair, August 25 and Sept. 1, offering free admission to students K-12 from Pueblo County schools and the surrounding areas on those two days along with a free ThunderHill ticket to the Sept. 30 Band Day football contest versus Colorado Mesa, a free drink from Loaf N Jug, and half price carnival band.  Rev 89 will broadcast from the Carnival area on those days, and the CSU-Pueblo presence will be visible through flags, banners, advertising, and giveaway items.

Award-winning student operated radio station, Rev 89.5 FM, will broadcast live from the Colorado State Fair outside the Carnival Midway Entrance by the Small Animal Building on Aug. 25, 26, 27 as well as Sept. 1-3. Find Rev 89 broadcasting live outside the Budweiser Rodeo Arena from 5p-8p on Tuesday, August 29 for Alumni Night. Rev 89 is a proud sponsor of the Stampede 5k Fun Run Walk and will be broadcasting live from the start and finish lines on Saturday, September 2. Later that afternoon starting at 3p.m., the Fair will be hosting a pop-up dance contest at the Rev 89 booth by the Carnival entrance. Participants will have a dance off that will be judged by members of the CSU-Pueblo Pack Dance Team. The winner will receive a pair of tickets to see Skillet that night at the Fair. Rev 89 is giving away tickets on-air beginning August 14 and has additional online contests available at revolution89.com.

Be sure to look for the ThunderWolves Marching Band, cheer and dance squads, representatives of the Outdoor Pursuits program, Alumni Association representatives, and CSU-Pueblo President Timothy Mottet in the Colorado State Fair Parade.

The Alumni Association will sponsor Alumni Night at the State Fair Rodeo from 6 – 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29 on the stage of the Rodeo Arena at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. Tickets are $12 per person and include gate admission, pre-rodeo reception and premium seating either on stage or grandstand adjacent to stage during the rodeo. Reconnect with fellow alumni and support the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves and the Colorado State Fair. Rev 89 will broadcast from the rodeo location on this date.

Tickets are on sale in the Office of Alumni Relations, LARC 184. For more information, call Tracy Samora, director of alumni relations, at 719-549-2858 or email tracy.samora@csupueblo.edu.
