Colorado State University-Pueblo SOCO Reading series offers poetry event

PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo will host an afternoon of poetry featuring CantoMundo poets Carolina Ebeid and J. Michael Martinez at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 14 in General Classroom Building 213. The reading is free with light refreshments and authors' books for sale. The reading is brought to by P4, the Office of Student Activities, the SoCo Reading Series.

Carolina Ebeid is the author of You Ask Me to Talk About the Interior (Noemi Press, Fall 2016). She is a student in the Ph.D. program in creative writing at the University of Denver and holds an M.F.A. from the Michener Center for Writers. She has won fellowships and prizes from CantoMundo, Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, the Stadler Center for Poetry, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work appears widely in journals such as The Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, Colorado Review, and more recent work appears in Linebreak, Bennington Review, jubilat, and in the inaugural Ruth Stone House Reader. She also was named a finalist for the 2017 Colorado Book Award in Poetry.

J. Michael Martinez received the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets for his first book, Heredities. His latest, In the Garden of the Bridehouse, is available from the University of Arizona Press. He is Poetry Editor of NOEMI Press, and his writings are anthologized in Ahsahta Press' "The Arcadia Project: North American Postmodern Pastoral," Rescue Press' "The New Census: 40 American Poets," and Counterpath Press' "Angels of the Americlypse: New Latin@ Writing.”
