CSU-Pueblo to celebrate I Love CSU-Pueblo Homecoming

PUEBLO Former and current students of Southern Colorado Junior College, Pueblo Junior College, Southern Colorado State College, the University of Southern Colorado, and Colorado State University – Pueblo, along with the parents of current students, are invited to I Love CSU-Pueblo Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 12-16, for a series of events planned by the CSU-Pueblo Alumni Association and the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership.

The weekend kicks off for alumni on Wednesday with a Donuts and Coffee Break at 8 a.m. in the Library and Academic Resources Center Lobby and concludes with the Alumni/Parent Brunch on Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Occhiato University Center (OUC) Hearthwell Lounge. Activities are scheduled for various alumni groups including Baseball, Marching Band/Music, President’s Leadership Program, AIM, Forensic/Debate, Enactus. Engineering, and SEAL (see schedule that follows).

Students, parents, and alumni are invited to the “Survey Says Game Show” on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the OUC Ballroom. The Campus Challenge Cup will take place in the Student Recreation Center on Thursday from 8-10 p.m. Students can be prepared for the weekend’s football games by making DIY Noisemakers on Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the LARC. The Powderpuff football game will be held from 7:15-8 p.m. on Friday on the Student Recreation Field.

The Alumni Association will sponsor a family-friendly Howlin’ House Party from 5:30-8 p.m. on Friday on the West Lawn of the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl. This event will including food, drinks, games, and the Homecoming Pep Rally (6:30-7 p.m.).

Enjoy s’mores, hot coco​a, and apple cider at a bonfire sponsored by the Associated Students’ Government on Friday night at 8 p.m. in the Student Recreation Field parking lot.

On Saturday, six individuals and one team will be honored at the Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which begins at 9 a.m. in the OUC Ballroom. The 2016 class of inductees includes:

Tommie Robinson, Men’s Basketball, 1988-92; Cindy Pool, Women’s Track and Field, 1981-83; Monica Hashiguchi, Softball, 1999-2000; Thomas Calhoun, Men’s Tennis, 1995-98; Don Schmidli, Four-Sport Athlete, 1946-48; Joe Prater, Football Coach, 1956-73 and the 1971-73 Men’s Golf team. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased by contacting Trey Nickelson at trey.nickelson@csupueblo.edu.

A tailgate party sponsored by the Friends of Football and the Alumni Association will take place on Saturday on the rooftop deck of the Leomiti Warrior Center from noon – 2 p.m. Tickets are required. The ThunderWolf football team takes the field versus Fort Lewis at 2 p.m. in the ThunderBowl. Homecoming royalty and Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at half time of the game. Student tickets will be available in the bookstore the week of the game.

Following the game, attend the CSU-Pueblo Night at the Movies at Tinseltown Theatre (RSVP required).

Participants are required to bring hiking equipment (appropriate clothing, water bottle, small pack, rain gear, sunscreen, and a fantastic ThunderWolf attitude!) Cost is $15 per guest and includes lunch and transportation. Students are free with valid student ID.
