CSU-Pueblo hosts “Let’s Move” Day for Pueblo youth

PUEBLO - Students and faculty in the Exercise Science, Health Promotion, and Recreation Department at Colorado State University - Pueblo will host a day dedicated to promoting active, healthy lifestyles for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. The event is free of charge.
As part of the national "Let's Move" campaign, CSU-Pueblo will lead a day of free activities, demonstrations, and access to health-related vendors from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 23 on the CSU-Pueblo campus. The event will be held at Massari Arena beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. A full range of activities and demonstrations, including yoga, rock wall climbing, field hockey, golf, and volleyball and several health-related vendors, will be featured between 9 a.m. and noon. The first 300 participants will receive a free t-shirt and goodie bag.
The Let's Move-Active Schools program is a comprehensive initiative launched in 2010 by First Lady Michelle Obama, dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, said EXHP faculty member Karen Marley.
The event is co-sponsored by the Colorado S.H.A.P.E. Society of Health and Physical Education; the Colorado Governor's Council for Active and Healthy Living; and the Society of Health and Physical Educations S.H.A.P.E. America, and the CSU-Pueblo Student Recreation Center. Pueblo organizations participating include the Pueblo City County Health Department, St. Mary Corwin Medical Center, and Parkview Medical Center.
