Release Date: November 03, 2015
Press Release
The junior class selected the Learning Center at El Centro del Quinto Sol, the city-owned recreation center for children and adults, 609 N. Erie Ave., to encourage and support education for its participants, who often don’t have the resources or means to develop educationally outside of their school classroom. The learning center is a room, in a former elementary school, for tutoring, homework, reading, and other educational activities. The students hope to complete this project by the end of the fall semester, which ends in December.
According to PLP Director Shelly Moreschini, CSU-Pueblo and PLP are dedicated to quality education, as well as civic engagement, innovation, inclusiveness and diversity, integrity and respect.
“This is an ideal project for the10 members of this year’s PLP Junior Class, as it meets the mission of the university to be an educational resource for the area’s diverse population within its service area,” Moreschini said. “We want to make a difference at the center and create a more comfortable and positive learning environment.”
