Press Release

PUEBLO – The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Colorado State University-Pueblo, in association with its corporate sponsor Feeding America, will conduct a food drive over the next few weeks in hopes of surpassing last year’s 2,600 pounds. Participating fraternity chapters and colonies nationwide last year blew past Feeding America’s 2.5 million pound goal by collecting 4 million pounds.
According to member Juan Rodriquez, the Delta Omega Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity hopes to raise 5,000 pounds this year. Nearly 200 chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha in the United States and Canada will be collecting canned food on the same weekend. Internationally, Lambda Chi Alpha hopes to raise 4.5 million pounds of food.
The fraternity members will drop empty bags that are labeled with Food Drive information on Nov. 8 and will pick up the bags between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15. In order to more quickly reach their weight goal, the fraternity is requesting canned food items, but will accept any and all non-perishable food items. Residents may leave the bags on their doorsteps on Sunday, Nov. 15 for pick up.
Donations will be distributed to the CSU-Pueblo Pack Pantry as well as the Care and Share Food Bank, both of whom will distribute to needy individuals through various member agencies.
