Schools and programs were evaluated based on publicly available information about accreditation, academic quality, student satisfaction, reputation in the field, and cost. Lead Editor  Hugo Saucedo determined which schools were the lowest priced, highest quality, regionally-accredited residential M.Ed. programs. An independent and comprehensive guide to earning a Master's in Education degree, Top Masters in Education ( provides education students with news and stories on the state of the education field, and career advice from knowledgeable and experienced educators who have been there. According to Saucedo, the schools on this list are not only academically superior, but also are of superior value and offer every student an opportunity for advancement in their careers. In addition, many of these programs hire experts in their given fields, which further enhances the value of their respective course offerings.

"We believe this list offers a great starting point for students seeking an accredited, affordable, top-quality program that suits their needs,” he said.
