PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo’s graduate program in education was ranked 11th among the top 50 institutions mentioned in a ranking of best value residential Master in Educational Leadership programs. CSU-Pueblo was the only Colorado school included in the listing.

Top Masters in Education, a resource for educators looking to enhance their own educational foundation, published its first annual Best Value ranking of the top schools for residential Master's in Educational leadership programs in the United States.

Schools and programs were evaluated based on publicly available information about accreditation, academic quality, student satisfaction, reputation in the field, and cost. Lead Editor  Hugo Saucedo determined which schools were the lowest priced, highest quality, regionally-accredited residential M.Ed. programs. An independent and comprehensive guide to earning a Master's in Education degree, Top Masters in Education (www.topmastersineducation.com) provides education students with news and stories on the state of the education field, and career advice from knowledgeable and experienced educators who have been there. This list covers every region of the United States and links potential students to programs that are well researched, thus allowing busy individuals to save time finding relevant information. 

According to Saucedo, the schools on this list are not only academically superior, but also are of superior value and offer every student an opportunity for advancement in their careers. In addition, many of these programs hire experts in their given fields, which further enhances the value of their respective course offerings.

"We believe this list offers a great starting point for students seeking an accredited, affordable, top-quality program that suits their needs,” he said. 

CSU- Pueblo’s Masters of Education is a 36-credit hour program with additional coursework required for those seeking Principal or Superintendent certification. Requirements for acceptance into this program include, a baccalaureate degree, submission of a completed admission packet, official transcripts, two letters of recommendation, resume, copy of teaching license, and proof of lawful presence in the United States. The CSU-Pueblo Master of Education degree has various areas of emphasis from which current licensed teachers can choose, such as Art, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education, Early Learning, Foreign Language, Health & Physical Education, Instructional Technology, Music, Space Studies for Education and Special Education.

“Many of our graduates upon completing our program have gone on to obtain advanced positions at their schools,” said Dr. Margie Massey, associate professor in the Teacher Education Program. “Our program provides teachers with opportunities to increase professional development and become master teachers in their field. Additionally, our program aligns with National Board Standards which assists those teachers who wish to acquire National Board certification.”
