Press Release

PUEBLO – Students looking to educate the next generation as teachers will get additional incentives to do so thanks to a recent $100,000 donation to the Colorado State University-Pueblo Foundation by Robert “Bob” and Kris Strader.

Pueblo residents Dr. and Mrs. Strader are retired educators who have dedicated their careers to helping young people acquire a college education. The $100,000 donation will be used to establish an endowment to aid individuals pursuing and/or furthering careers in education.

“This gift is very special,” said Todd Kelly, CSU-Pueblo Foundation President/CEO. “The Straders were educators who saved their money throughout their lives and continue to dedicate their lives towards their passions of education and helping our youth. It is because of their passion that this scholarship will positively impact students for many generations.”

The Robert L. Strader Endowment for Teachers Scholarship will award an annual scholarship to students with a 3.2 GPA or better within the Education Department.

Bailey Provost, a senior within the Teacher Education Program at CSU-Pueblo, was awarded the inaugural Robert L. Strader Teachers Scholarship. Upon graduation, Provost plans to begin working as a kindergarten or first grade teacher.

“As a lifetime Pueblo native, I feel grateful to be part of such an incredible University and look forward to pursuing my dreams in my own backyard,” Provost said. “I will use the scholarship to push myself to new heights so that someday I can give back to this great community.”

CSU-Pueblo students can apply for this scholarship, along with all other Foundation scholarships, beginning January 1, 2016 through the university’s Personal Access to Web Services (PAWS).
