Construction projects to limit summer access to campus
Release Date: April 28, 2015
PUEBLO - Several construction projects will limit access to the Colorado State University-Pueblo campus this summer but will be completed in mid-August before the start of the Fall 2015 semester.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) already has begun a project to upgrade and overlay Colorado State Highway 47 (University Blvd.). Traffic flow into the University will be impacted due to lane closures and other delays.
Most importantly, beginning Monday, May 4, the Bonforte Blvd. bridge will be closed for the summer, meaning that no access to the campus will be available via Bonforte Blvd. until project completion in mid-August. No pedestrian or vehicle access of any kind via the bridge will be available throughout the construction project. Traffic will be detoured to either the Troy Avenue or Walking Stick Blvd exits off Highway 47. The Bonforte Blvd. ramp off of highway 47 WILL REMAIN OPEN to enable vehicles to turn right onto Bonforte Blvd.
The bridge will be refinished providing a more level driving surface as well as new wider sidewalks and the installation of new guardrails, resulting in a safer and more attractive entry to the campus.
According to Pueblo City Transit, during the time that Bonforte Bridge is closed for construction, the City buses will still service the campus but will reduce service from twice an hour (at 0:20 and 0:50 after the hour) to just once an hour. That means, during the construction, the bus will arrive at Bonforte and Endeavor at 0:50 after each hour and arrive at our bus stop in front of campus at 0:55 after each hour. To leave campus, the bus will leave our bus stop at 0:55 after the hour and deliver riders to the stop at Bonforte and Endeavor 5 minutes later. (Endeavor Lane is the third intersection on the eastside of Bonforte Blvd. south of the bridge.)
