PUEBLO - Colorado State University-Pueblo's student operated radio station, KTSC-89.5, Rev 89 was ranked ninth in the nation among all non-commercial stations, according to Fall 2014 rankings by Nielsen Media. Rev 89 also is currently the fourth most listened to radio station in Pueblo and was the only non-commercial station from Colorado in the nation's top 25.

According to Fall 2014 Nielsen Audio rankings, the standard for measuring radio ratings in the United States, Rev 89 has a total of 20,100 listeners in Pueblo. The ranking is based on the percentage of the Pueblo market that Rev 89 reaches (listener potential). Rev 89 penetrates (listener potential) nearly (14.5) 15 percent of the Pueblo market - the 9th best public radio market penetration in the U.S. On average, 700 people tune into the radio station during any 15-minute period, between 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Sunday. The average Rev listener spends 3 hours and 36 minutes with the station every week.

This ranking is based on "Diary" (hand written logs listeners fill out and return to Arbitron) researched markets in the U.S, which represents a total of 272 markets, those markets existing in every state. Of the 52 radio markets in the U.S., 48 are researched using the PPM (portable people meter) methodology not "diary" methodology.

"I can't say enough about the continued excellence of our students and this station," said CSU-Pueblo President Lesley Di Mare. "They set the bar so high winning the Signature Station Award from the Broadcast Education Association last year, yet they continue to exceed my expectations."

The radio station is part of the electronic media curriculum in the mass communications department and is staffed by students majoring or minoring in the department. It is funded primarily from station underwriting. CSU-Pueblo is the only University in the state that offers on-campus, hands-on experiences at public television and public radio stations as well as with print and on-line publications.

Rev 89 also is ranked 25th in the U.S among all public radio stations. This particular ranking is based on the percentage of the Pueblo listeners tuned to Rev 89 (actual not potential radio listeners that are tuning into Rev during any 15-minute period, between Monday and Sunday, 6am to midnight). Rev 89's market share (percentage of actual listeners) is 4.8%. 4.8% of all Pueblo listeners (people with radios turned on) will be tuned to Rev 89 during any 15 minute period, between Monday and Sunday, 6am to midnight.
