CSU-Pueblo offers Summer Transportation Institute, June 16-27

PUEBLO - Secondary school students can investigate the transportation industry as a possible career choice as part of a two-week, non-residential National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) at Colorado State University - Pueblo in June. CSU-Pueblo civil engineering technology faculty will conduct the Institute from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 16 to 27 for students in grades 6 through 9 attending public or private schools in Colorado.
Space in the program is limited to a maximum of 24 students, who will receive a full scholarship, covering tuition, daily transportation to and from school (in Pueblo County), stationery, laboratory usage and supplies, field trips, and meals during the two-week course being sponsored by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and financed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Students will be introduced to careers in transportation through seminars, field trips, and hands-on activities. Participants will be introduced to engineering basics and a variety of transportation systems, learn about career opportunities in transportation and the relevant educational and skill requirements, and have the opportunity to meet people who work in the transportation industry. One overnight field trip may be offered as part of the program.
