MS 365 and DUO FAQ

Why do I log in with "@colostate.edu" after my NetID? Is this a new email?
CSU Pueblo shares a MS 365 tenant with Ft. Collins. This is a move to solidify our position as a CSU System and leverage the benefits of NetID logins. The system was first established at Ft. Collins and required a username that appears like an email address. Using @colostate.edu is NOT a new email and only a username. The @colostate.edu portion is required as part of the username to use this service.
USERNAME
All email usernames will be in this format: C812345678@colostate.edu
EMAIL ADDRESS
All new email addresses will be in this format: first.last@csupueblo.edu
Current student emails will still end in @pack.csupueblo.edu
*All existing students that had @pack.csupueblo.edu will retain that address. All new students will be provisioned @csupueblo.edu accounts. If a student that has an @pack.csupueblo.edu address changes their name the new address will end in @csupueblo.edu. -
Will student employees’ older emails be migrated into their new accounts?
No, the student employee accounts are not moving to M365. There are several reasons behind not moving these accounts. One reason is that every account costs money in the migration.
To limit the cost, it was decided not to move those accounts. Also, student employee accounts were all built with email, even if the student did not use the email. This account would just have an excess of unread email that was never managed. In addition, ITS was rarely notified by departments when student employees left the department. This leads to abandoned accounts in the email system that do not need to be moved. IT kept building student employee accounts after the NetID migration because there was no easy way to share calendars with the student’s accounts between the two email systems. -
How do I use DUO without a smartphone?
There are a few ways for you to enable 2-factor authentication without a smartphone. You can register any phone number as a 2nd device. You will need to be able to answer the phone each time 2-factor authentication is requested.
