Space Utilization

Dear Campus Community,

The Space Utilization Committee was established last fall to provide recommendations to the President’s Cabinet concerning allocation and use of CSU-Pueblo spaces, offices, classrooms, and other campus facilities. This memo serves to clarify responsibility for several important functions occurring on campus in the next few months.

New Office Requests/OSC Tenant Transition

The Committee has finalized an online form at that now may be used to request permanent spaces (e.g., office space, classroom space, rehearsal space) on campus. These requests will be reviewed by the committee and submitted to the President and Cabinet for final approval.

Recurring Events Scheduling

Because of the OSC renovation, many annual campus events that are normally held in this facility will need to find a temporary venue in other campus facilities or possibly at off-campus locations. No internal or external events will be scheduled in the OSC from Nov. 18, 2016 through June, 2018. All inquiries for event space during this time period should be made through Brent Lorenz, Chair of the Space Utilization Committee, in Auxiliary Services at 719.549.2161 or

Space requests should not be sought by calling individual campus units or facilities (e.g. Hoag Hall, Rec Center, and Athletics). Priority booking will be given to events based on the facility’s availability and an event’s size and campus impact (academic, recruitment, athletics, community, etc.).  Brent will work with the current building supervisors and respective Cabinet members to prioritize these requests.

A link to the list of annual events identified as utilizing the OSC is available on this website. If you know of an annual event that does not appear, please contact Brent so that the University can project the amount of space required to carry out these events through the renovation. After a final review of major recurring events and space requirements, the University may attempt to negotiate with an off-campus venue for multiple events should that be necessary.

Thank you for your patience during this renovation/expansion. We know because of the recent renovations to the Library and Academic Resources Center and Massari Arena that the end results will be worth the temporary inconvenience.

Moving forward, the University intends to implement a more centralized scheduling process, utilizing updated software and streamlined coordination between Brent in the OSC and the current building supervisors.
