Bio

Dr. McClaran studied at the University of Northern Colorado, where he obtained his BS degree in Marketing and MA in Recreation. He then obtained his MS degree in Exercise & Sport Science at Colorado State University (Fort Collins) and his Ph.D. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin. He has been certified as a Health Fitness Specialist since 1999.

McClaran joined the EXHPR faculty at CSU-Pueblo in 2008. Since that time he has taught a variety of courses including: Personal Health and Wellness Lecture and Laboratory, Introduction to EXHPR, Methods of Dual and Individual Sports, Physical Activity and Games II, Exercise Assessment and Leadership, and Methods in Health Promotion.

Dr. McClaran's most recent research interests have centered on the effects of caffeine on exercise heart rate and motivation for increasing exercise with pedometers. His hobbies mostly have to do with physical activity: biking, x-country skiing, hiking, tennis and volleyball.
