Bio
Violinist Holly Nelson has appeared in concert as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician
throughout the United States and internationally. Her performances as soloist with orchestra
include engagements at the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap and the Library of Congress.
In 2023, Holly was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant to study tango music performance
practice and pedagogy in Buenos Aires, Argentina for nine months. As a tango violinist, she has performed with Grammy award-winning musicians Guillermo Rubino, Emiliano Messiez and Pedro Giraudo.
Holly Nelson received a DMA from the Peabody Conservatory as a Dean’s Doctoral Fellow,
M.M. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and B. M. from the
Mannes College of Music. She has
taught at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and has held artist residencies and presented music workshops at
Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill and Fordham University, among others.
When not busy teaching and performing, she enjoys skiing, playing tennis, knitting and
cooking spicy food from around the world.
