Daniel Bowan, Ph.D.

Bio

Daniel is a tenured professor who teaches Recreation and Outdoor Leadership courses within the School of Health Sciences and Human Movement. He has a PhD. in Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy from The University of Colorado–Colorado Springs in addition to a Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration from The University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Resources from Penn State University. In his free time, Daniel appreciates spending time with his young family while coaching lacrosse, telemark skiing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, ice climbing, fly-fishing, and backpacking.

Recent Accomplishments: 2019 Outstanding Servant Leader from the Association of Experiential Education (Rocky Mountain Region), 2018 Outstanding Faculty Member (College of Engineering, Education, & Professional Studies), and 2018 CSU Pueblo Presidential Fellow.

Recent Scholarship: A 100,000 Strong in the Americas Grant from the Partners of the Americas Foundation titled “Establishing the Institute of Ecotourism Studies: Collaborative Workforce Development and Cultural Exchange in Mexico”, an article in the Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism titled “Building Bridges: Overview of an International Sustainable Tourism Education Model”, and an article in the Journal of Sports Research titled “FMS Corrective Intervention Improves FMS Composite Score and 1-mile Run Time, without Concurrent Change in Hip Extension Strength, Vertical Jump or T–Shuttle Run Time, in Recreational Runners”.
