Concentration Areas
All students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences must select a concentration area as a specialization for their degree. The concentration area determines the coursework the student will take since the very start of the academic program.
The Health Sciences program offers the following areas of concentration:
General Health Science
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a General Health Science emphasis prepares students for health science related professional positions.
This concentration is an excellent selection for students preparing for work in careers in:
- Home health coordination
- Health maintenance
- Organization care coordinator
- Insurance company prevention coordinator
- Women, infant, and children health worker
- Health navigator
- Many more!
Health Coaching
Graduates from the Health Coaching emphasis are prepared to work in worksite health promotion programs, insurance prevention programs or in private practice as a health coach assisting clients with behavior change and disease prevention.
Pre-Athletic Training
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a Pre-Athletic Training concentration prepares students for entry into Master level Athletic Training programs.
This concentration area allows students who are not accepted into the MS in Athletic Training 3+2 Program to graduate with a 4-year degree to pursue other graduate options.
Pre-Nursing
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a Pre-Nursing emphasis is meant for students looking to apply to the BSN Program upon completion of fifty percent of prerequisite nursing courses.
However, students in this concentration area can also graduate with a four year degree and pursue several nursing-related career options or graduate programs.
Public Health
The Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a Public Health concentration prepares students to take the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing exam to become a Certified Health Education Specialist.
Public Health gradiates can find employment in:
- Worksite health promotion
- Community health
- Government and volunteer health agencies
- Clinical care settings
Public Health graduates are also prepared to apply to a Master-level Public Health degree.
