BSN Pathway
Application Deadline
Completed applications are due by February 15th each year for the following fall cohort start date. Applications submitted prior to the deadline will receive priority status. Applications received after the deadline will be considered if space is available.
Part 1 - University Application
All students interested in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program must apply to CSU Pueblo in addition to the School of Nursing.
The following is required for a complete application:
- University Application
- $35 Application Fee
- Official Transcripts from all previously attended institutions sent to:
- Baccalaureate Degree: In nursing from an institution accredited by a regional accreditation agency (or equivalent).
- Grade Point Average: Undergraduate BSN cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will consider courses with a graduate nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- RN License: Proof of active, unrestricted Colorado Registered Nurse license by the end of the first semester of the program.
- Letters of Recommendation: These must be from:
- Professional or Academic
- Clinical
- Other
- Letter of intent: Must include:
- Brief professional history
- Reason for pursuing advanced degree
- How applicant will manage work, home, and study
- Curriculum Vitae: Must abide by CV Format

Part 2 - BSN Pathway Application
The School of Nursing uses CastleBranch for submission of supplemental documents.
The following are criteria for admission:
- Statistics, Chemistry, and Microbiology Courses: Undergraduate coursework with a grade of C or higher.
- RN License: Proof of active, unrestricted Colorado Registered Nurse license by the end of the first semester of the program.
- Background Check: Must abide by Colorado Law.
- Drug Screen
- Immunizations: Copy of latest immunizations
- CPR Certification: Health Care Provider – C or equivalent.

Preference for acceptance will be given to applicants who have:
- 2000 hours (1 year full-time) experience as a registered nurse (AGACNP, AGACNP/FNP, PMHNP emphases only)
- One year or more of experience as a clinical adjunct instructor (Nurse Educator only)
- Residency in Southern Colorado
- Graduate from CSU-Pueblo

Students accepted into the University are not guaranteed acceptance into the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program, nor are students accepted into the DNP Program guaranteed admission into CSU Pueblo.
