CSU-Pueblo Athletics Total Nine Academic All-Americans in 2018-19
A total of nine CSU-Pueblo student-athletes earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2018-19. The cross country/track and field teams highlighted the group with five, including Derrick Williams, who was named the Male XC/T&F Academic Athlete of the Year. The nine student-athletes were: Nicole Bouma (Women's XC/Track & Field), Michaela Burpee (Softball), Courtney Ewing (Women's Golf), Lauren Fairchild (Women's XC/Track & Field), Shawn Horne (Men's XC/Track & Field), Marcelo Laguera (Men's XC/Track & Field), Austin Micci (Football), Kevin Ribarich (Football) and Derrick Williams (Men's XC/Track & Field).
CSU-Pueblo allocated $1.9 Million for upgrades to ThunderBowl and Massari Arena
The Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletic Department has received $1.9 million for facility improvements to the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl and Massari Arena. The commitment to Pack Athletics comes as part of CSU-Pueblo's Vision 2028, a 10-year strategic plan to establish CSU-Pueblo as the "people's university of the Southwest." In August, Vision 2028 was supported unanimously by the Colorado State University System Board of Governors with a total investment of $7.8 million to CSU-Pueblo for initiatives outlined in the 10-year strategic plan.
CSU-Pueblo Athletics awarded $1 million from the Rawlings Foundation
Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletics has secured $1 million from the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation to help renovate the Rawlings Baseball and Softball Complex. This donation was the lead gift as part of a $4.5 million capital improvement plan. The Rawlings Sports Complex encompasses both baseball and softball venues on the campus of Colorado State University-Pueblo. Since securing the gift from the Rawlings Foundation, CSU-Pueblo Athletics has reached $3.1 of the $4.5 million needs for renovations.
CSU-Pueblo Athletics announces Hall of Fame Class of 2019
The 2019 class of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletics Hall of Fame features six former student-athletes, a coach and special contributor who dedicated more than two decades to the University and a men's basketball team with the most wins in program history. The group assembled Oct. 19 at the 10th Annual CSU-Pueblo Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet and at halftime of the CSU-Pueblo Football Homecoming game.
