Alumni Teacher of the Year and Alumni Educator Hall of Fame Dinner

The Teacher Education Department is proud to announce the Annual Alumni Teacher of the Year and Alumni Educator Hall of Fame Dinner. The event will be held Thursday, March 7 in the CSU-Pueblo Occhiato Student Center Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. Hall of Fame inductees will be announced soon and Teacher of the Year honorees will be announced at the event. We are proud to recognize our outstanding educators that are proud alumni of CSU-Pueblo.

Teacher Education Alumni Workshops

The Alumni Chapter of the Teacher Education Program will be offering free Classroom Communities Workshops for educators beginning in March. The first workshop will focus on “Establishing Positive Classroom Culture for Positive Classroom Management” and will be facilitated by local educators.

Plan to join us Friday, March 29 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Occhiato Student Center, Tundra Room - 008. There is no cost to attend, but RSVPs are appreciated. Refreshments will be provided. Contact Tracy Samora, Director of Alumni & Community Relations, tracy.samora@csupueblo.edu


Football Alumni Weekend and Pack Football Spring Game

Football Alumni Weekend will be April 12 & 13. This exciting weekend allows alumni the opportunity to meet and get to know the current Pack players and coaching staff and continue building on the strength and tradition of Pack Football.

Alumni are invited to Pack Football’s Spring Game Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl, followed by dinner; and then golf on Saturday. Pack Baseball’s 25th Anniversary and Alumni Day Activities

This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the return of CSU-Pueblo baseball. Opening Day is February 1. As part of the festivities, all Pack Baseball Alumni are being offered an Alumni Pass as admission for themselves and one guest for all regular season home games.

We will celebrate Alumni Day at Pack Baseball during the Pack’s series vs. Colorado Mesa double header on April 6 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. We will have prizes, specials at the concession stand and an Alumni Tailgate! ASG Alumni Reception

In conjunction with the President’s Gala, the Alumni Association is pleased to host our annual reception for all Associated Students’ Government alumni. This exclusive event will be held Saturday, May 18th at 5 p.m. in the Occhiato Student Center near the fireplace. There is no cost to attend the ASG reception. Guests are invited to purchase a ticket to attend the 2019 President’s Gala immediately following the reception.


Alumni Profile - Pack Alumnus Named COO at Parkview Medical Center

Congratulations to Darrin Smith, A08, on being named the Chief Operating Officer at Parkview Medical Center. Darrin is a proud Pack alumnus earning his master’s degree in business administration from the Hasan School of Business.

Since joining Parkview in 2005, Smith’s duties have included the oversight of the hospital’s human resources department, employee health department, employment and recruiting office, Thatcher Learning Center, and volunteer services.

“I’m excited about the new role and the new opportunity that I have here at Parkview,” Smith said. “It’s a role that I get to continue the mission, the vision and the values that we have here at the hospital, and continue to be a top provider of health care here in our region of Pueblo and Southern Colorado.”

Smith, is married to a fellow CSU-Pueblo alumnus, Andrea Aragon, A93. They are the proud parents of two boys and continuously support CSU-Pueblo and the Pueblo community.

Smith has served on the board of the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, including one year as chair; and he currently serves on the Colorado State University-Pueblo Foundation Board of Trustees.
