Piano Conversations invites you to an electrifying program of two-piano music to include Stravinsky’s masterpiece “The Rite of Spring” and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dance from West Side Story, performed by piano duo Dr. Zahari Metchkov and Dr. Michael Schneider. The West Side Story performance is especially appropriate, as this year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bernstein's birth.

The piece features thrilling rhythms, tender melodies, and unique textures. It is perhaps the best know contribution to the repertoire by the iconic composer, conductor, and pianist. Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring is in a league of its own, largely considered the most important piece of 20th century classical music, and this piano four-hands version is truly stunning. It will be paired with Nicholas Roerich's paintings and sketches, which accompanied the original ballet music. This performance is a rare opportunity! Tickets are $10 at the door, and free for students with ID. A free reception will follow.
