The Future of History: Lessons from the Digital Frontier

Pinkser will discuss how the 2500-year-old practice of history is being changed by modern technology. This lecture will be held in conjunction with the National History Honor Society (Phi Alpha Theta) Induction Ceremony and the History Program Banquet.

Matthew Pinsker holds the Brian Pohanka Chair of Civil War History at Dickinson College and serves as director of the House Divided Project. He is writing a biography of Abraham Lincoln, focusing on his record as a political party leader. Boss Lincoln, forthcoming from W.W. Norton & Co., offers new in-sights about the history of American partisanship through the biography of its greatest practitioner. He is also the author of two books: Abraham Lincoln (American Presidents Reference Series) and Lincoln's Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers’ Home. Pinsker is a graduate of Harvard University and has a D. Phil in modern history from Oxford University.

The cost for the banquet is $20 per person, $10 for students.  Tickets for the banquet must be purchased by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 10.  To purchase tickets, contact Judy Gaughan, associate professor of history, at judy.gaughan@csupueblo.edu or at 719.549.2417.
