    Outdoor Pursuits is hosting a $1 Equipment Rental Weekend! Stand-up paddleboards, tents, backpacks, kayaks... ALL students may rent equipment for just $1 a piece. This event runs from Friday April 20th - Monday April 22nd.

    Watershed Cleanup and Meditation Session

    Colorado State University-Pueblo’s student organization Leaders in Ethical Action for the Future (LEAF) will host “Bloom Month” in April to celebrate empowering the planet and providing people with a greater knowledge and understanding about social justice and environmental issues. The month kicks off with trail building, includes an Earth Day Fest, and ends with a Watershed Cleanup. According to Earthday.org, Earth Day activities globally involve more than 1 billion people in 192 countries in the largest civic-focused day of action in the world. It is a day of political action and civic participation. Earth Day 2018 will focus specifically on ending plastic pollution around the world. Earth Day Fest on Friday, April 20 serves as the headlining event of the month, with a celebration of the global holiday with free pizza, brownies, and live performances from Mighty Mystic, Beyond Bridges, and surprise guests. The festival will occur from 1 – 6 p.m. at the Fountain Plaza or near Belmont Hall if inclement weather occurs. Food will be served at 1:30 p.m. with music to follow at 2 p.m.

    Veteran’s Career Fair

    Colorado State University-Pueblo will host 16+ local, regional, state, and national employers that are specifically hiring veterans at the first Colorado State University-Pueblo Veteran’s Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 in the Occhiato Student Center. Dana Rocha, director of CSU-Pueblo Veteran’s Success Center partnered with the Career Center, Pikes Peak and Pueblo Workforce Centers on the event. This is the first such Veteran’s Career Fair held in Southern Colorado. The event is open to veteran students, their families, students, alumni, students from CSU Fort Collins, CSU-Global, employees of the University, and the Pueblo Community. For more information about the CSU-Pueblo Veteran’s Career Fair, contact the Career Center at 549-2980.

    The Rural Economy in the Age of Acceleration

    Former United States Secretary of Agriculture and Governor of Iowa Tom Vilsack will spend the day at Colorado State University-Pueblo on Wednesday, April 25. Vilsack will present a classroom lecture on rural poverty and economic development at 8 a.m. in the General Classroom Building 111 followed by a public lecture, “The Rural Economy in the Age of Acceleration,” at 10:30 a.m. in the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom.
