Bio

Mike De Luca, Senior Lecturer for the CSU-Pueblo Department of Music, is a native of Pueblo, Colorado, and currently teaches classes in Music Theory. In addition, he supervises instrumental music student teachers for the CSU-Pueblo Department of Education.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Colorado State Pueblo University with an emphasis in woodwind instrument techniques. He received his Master’s of Arts Degree from the University of Colorado in Educational Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Leadership.

He taught instrumental music for Pueblo School District 60 for 25 years and worked in school administration as the “Director of Visual and Performing Arts” for his last five years in public education. During his tenure as a teacher he received the prestigious “Colorado Teacher of the Year” award, “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” award, and the American School Band Directors Association’s “Stanbury Award” for both the state of Colorado and the Southwestern United States region. His most recent honor was being nominated by his peers to receive the esteemed Colorado Music Educator’s Association “Hall of Fame” Award.

He is a current member of the Colorado Music Educator’s Association, Phi Beta Mu Honorary Music Fraternity, and the Colorado Association of Music Curriculum Specialists.
