James Hawthorne

Bio

James Hawthorne is a native of Cañon City and graduated with honors from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in German. He studied in Germany at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Universität Hamburg. Hawthorne also studied at Stockholms Universitet in Sweden, and eventually became fluent in Swedish and Russian. He received his M.A. at SUNY at Stony Brook in German (Master’s thesis: “Die Freiheit kann man nicht verdrängen”: Ludwig Börne und seine Zeit) and earned an ABD in Comparative Literature. Hawthorne has taught in Europe, Stony Brook, SUNY College of Technology at Farmingdale, Language Studies International in Berkeley, California, and American Language Academy at CSU-Pueblo, Pueblo Community College. Occasionally, Hawthorne teaches Russian for the department of English & Foreign Languages at CSU-Pueblo.​
