Bio

Dr. Alegríaía Ribadeneira is Distinguished Professor, Department Chair, Director of World Languages, and OER Faculty Lead at Colorado State University Pueblo. She is also faculty mentor and lead instructor for the National Heritage Language Resource Center in UCLA. Dr. Ribadeneira actively researches and presents on issues of language instruction, assessment, and program development focusing on heritage and second language learners in mixed classrooms. Her presentations highlight the benefits of project-based, content-based, and community-based instruction paired with open educational practices. Dr. Ribadeneira is the recipient of several teaching awards including the Student Choice Award for Outstanding Service and Transformative Leadership at CSU Pueblo, the Olga E. Kagan Award for advancing heritage language education, the Colorado Excellence in Teaching Award from CCFLT, the Southwest Post-Secondary Excellence in Teaching Award from SWCOLT, and more recently the Individual Educator Award from OEG (Open Education Global).
