Welcome to the Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry (CIHHI)! The Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry aspires to become a vibrant hub, where the boundaries between disciplines blur, and pioneering interdisciplinary experiences and scientific inquiry harmoniously thrive to advance human health and knowledge.

About Us: The Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry (CIHHI) was instituted in the fall of 2020 by Provost Mohamed Abdelrahman. As a “center” CIHHI operates under the auspices of the CSU Pueblo Provost’s Office and contributes to the effort to realize the Vision 2028 goals.

  • Vision: The Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry is a collaborative hub that promotes innovative, interdisciplinary experiences and scientific inquiry to promote human health and knowledge.
  • Mission: The mission of the Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry is to provide collaborative learning spaces to support the growth and integration of nursing and health sciences, social sciences, and humanities through clinical practice, education, and research.

Three Themes of CIHHI Programming

The CIHHI contributes to Vision 2028 and serves the CSU community using three themes of programming, emphasizing the value of academic, social, and community engagement through events in the following categories.

Events

Our events are one-time efforts to realize the CIHHI vision and mission and advance the Vision 2028 goals.

For example, in Spring 2022 CIHHI worked with The Arts Academy at PCHS and Colorado Arts to stage Nobody Hears You Unless You Scream, an interactive suicide prevention play by Joey Madia at which cast, creative team, and mental health professionals were available for a talkback after the performance. The event was open to the campus and the broader Pueblo community.

Collaborative Courses & Programs

CIHHI support for Collaborative Courses and Programs is the third programming theme.

For example, CIHHI faculty affiliates are currently working to create a Meditation Space. Informed by cutting-edge techniques and stocked with the latest technologies, the CIHHI Relaxation Room and Laboratory will be open for individual users and for faculty seeking to use it as a lab for class-based projects.

Initiatives

CIHHI Initiatives are recurring events and other ongoing efforts designed to produce academic products such as curriculum, a new course of study, research and scholarship, works of art, etc. that advance Vision 2028. CIHHI Initiatives are led by faculty affiliates (Initiative Directors) whose efforts are supported by CIHHI.

For example, CIHHI is a primary supporter of the CSU Pueblo - Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment’s (PDPHE) Academic Health Partnership. CSU Pueblo and the PDHPE have joined forces to create an Academic Health Partnership aimed at improving public health outcomes in the community. The partnership involves the integration of CSUP students and faculty into PDPHE programs and projects, as well as the provision of public health services and resources to the university community. The collaboration includes joint efforts in research, community outreach, and education, as well as the development and implementation of public health initiatives while providing CSU Pueblo students with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for professional development.

If you have an idea for an initiative please contact us! We are happy to help figure out how CIHHI can help you realize your goals!
