While we often frame the first generation college student experience as a monolithic one, students experience being the first in their family to attend college in unique ways. This professional development session will explore the various definitions of first generation college student status, the students who are more likely to be first generation and the similar challenges they face, and how faculty and staff can better support this population of students. The program is facilitated by Sonja Ardoin, Ph.D. who joins us from Boston University where she serves as the Program Director and Clinical Assistant Professor of the Higher Education Program.
