Colorado State University Pueblo Hosts Groundbreaking Early Childhood Education Summit with Support from the Buell Foundation

Pueblo, Colorado – April 5, Colorado State University Pueblo proudly hosted the Early Childhood Education Summit, a pivotal event made possible through the support of the Buell Foundation. This significant gathering convened professionals from across the state, emphasizing the shared vision and dedication towards advancing early childhood education.

The summit served as a beacon for dialogue and learning, attracting educators, policymakers, and advocates passionate about nurturing the developmental needs of young learners. "This event underscores our commitment to fostering an educational community that thrives on collaboration and innovation," stated Karen Krepps, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Education, at CSU Pueblo.

Keynote speaker Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford, a distinguished CSU Pueblo alumnus, along with Dr. Lisa Roy, the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, delivered compelling addresses that highlighted the summit. Their expertise and perspective provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing early childhood education today.

The day was filled with workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, all aimed at developing actionable strategies for improving educational outcomes for Colorado’s youngest learners. "The insights gained today will undoubtedly contribute to shaping the future of early childhood education in our state and beyond," remarked Angie Shehorn, Director of Child First and Pueblo Early Childhood Council at Pueblo Community College.
