    Step 1: Apply to Colorado State University-Pueblo

    • $85 Enrollment fee waived for Chapter 33 (post 9/11) and 31 (Vocational Rehab) contact the VEB for information

    Step 2: Fill out VEB Enrollment Form

    Step 3: Submit military transcripts, test scores, and transcripts from schools previously attended

    • Convert military training and experience to college credits:
    • Send previously attended school transcripts, military transcripts, and test scores to:

    Step 5: Determine what Chapter you will be using

    • Chapter 33: The Post- 9/11 GI Bill is an education benefit program for individuals who served on active duty after September 10, 2001.
    • Chapter 30: The Montgomery G.I. Bill Program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty.
    • Chapter 1606: The Montgomery G.I. Bill- Selected Reserve Program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
    • Chapter 35: The Survival and Dependents Educational Assistance Program provides up to 45 months of educational benefits to eligible dependents of certain veterans.
    • Chapter 31: Vocational Rehabilitation is a program whose primary function is to help veterans with service-connected disabilities become suitably employed, maintain employment, or achieve independence in daily living. The program offers a number of services to help each eligible disabled veteran reach his or her rehabilitation goal.

    Step 6: Submit eligibility forms to Veterans Education Benefit Office (VEB)

    • If using VA benefits for the first time:
      • Fill out the online VONAPP application form
        • You should use VONAPP if you are a U.S. military veteran, a service member on active duty, a member of the Selected Reserve, a spouse/dependent of a "service connected" disabled or deceased veteran, or a family member that has been approved to receive transferred benefits.
        • Bring a copy of the confirmation code or Certificate of Eligibility to the VEB Office (Administration Bldg. #103A) or email the forms to:
    • Veteran attended another institution while using benefits fill out form: 22-1995
      • If using chapter 35 fill out form: 22-5490
      • If another institution was attended also fill out change of place of training form: 22-1995.
    • For Chapter 33 Only:
      • Obtain a copy of Certificate of Eligibility through EBenefits Portal
      • Bring a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to the VEB Office (Administration Bldg. #103A) or email a copy to veb@csupueblo.edu.
    • For Chapter 35 Only:
      • Login or create an account 
      • Bring a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to the VEB Office (Administration Bldg. #103A) or email a copy to veb@csupueblo.edu.
    • For Chapter 31 Only:
      • Fill out Application for Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E)

      • Counselor will determine eligibility at this initial appointment!
