Waitlists

Waitlist FAQs

  •

    What is a registration waitlist?

A waitlist is an electronic list of students who are waiting to register for a full class. Students may sign up for this list when they attempt to register for a section that is full. The first student on the waitlist is notified via his/her university email when a space becomes available. This student then has up to 48 hours to register for the section. If the student does not register for the section within the given timeframe, he/she will be dropped from the waitlist for that section and the next student on the list will be notified.

  •

    When do waitlists end?

Wait listing ends at the end of add period.

  •

Are there any courses that do not allow waitlists?

Courses that require a PERMIT (course capacity of zero) will be excluded from the waitlist process.

  •

Is there a maximum number of students allowed on a waitlist for a specific course?

No, there is not a limit to the number of students that can be placed on the waitlist for a section of a course.

  •

Do I need to resolve restrictions prior to requesting to be placed on the waitlist?

Yes, most restrictions must be resolved prior to being placed on the waitlist. However, if you have an International Student or Athlete restriction, these will not stop you from placing your name on a waitlist. "Contact Advisor" students cannot waitlist.

  •

How do I place myself on a waitlist for a section of a course?

Once a class is FULL, you will be given the option in PAWS Registration to be added to the waitlist for that call number – the Add link becomes a Wait.

If there are students already on the waitlist, a WAIT/## will appear in the seats column. The ## represents the number of students on the waitlist.

How will I know my position on the waitlist?

At the time you select to WAIT, you will be informed of the waitlist process and your place in the list.

If you are currently on the waitlist for a course and want to check your position, click the Wait link again. The message will inform you of your place on the wait list.

  •

Can I sign up for a waitlist multiple times to increase my chance of getting into the course?

No, you can only sign up one time for a course. If you are dropped from the waitlist or if you drop yourself from the waitlist, you may sign up for the waitlist again. However, you may not be on the waitlist for a course multiple times at once.

  •

How will I know if my seat becomes available?

Once the seat is vacant, an email will be sent to your Colorado State University-Pueblo email account. The email will indicate the amount of time you have to register for the course.

  •

Once the email is sent, how long do I have to register?

You will have until the deadline noted on the email to register for the course, which is up to 48 hours from the time the email was sent. If you do not register within that timeframe, you will be dropped from the waitlist and your seat will be offered to the next student. If you miss your registration window but still wish to register for the class, you may register for the waitlist again.

  •

I have received the email notification that I can register for my waitlisted course, now what should I do?

Once you have been notified via email that a seat is available, log into PAWS. Under Course Search, choose My Wait List Courses on the right side of the page. You will see the Add link (instead of Wait) next to the course. Click Add to add this course to your schedule.
