Bio

Mike De Luca ,Artist in Residence for the CSU-Pueblo Department of Music, is a native of Pueblo, Colorado, and currently teaches classes in Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Woodwind Instrument Techniques, and Secondary Teaching Methods. In addition, he supervises instrumental music student teachers for the CSU-Pueblo Department of Education. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from the University of Colorado with an emphasis in woodwind instrument techniques. He received his Master’s of Arts Degree from the University of Colorado in Educational Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Leadership. He taught instrumental music for Pueblo School District 60 for 25 years and worked in school administration as the “Director of Visual and Performing Arts” for his last five years in public education. During his tenure as a teacher he received the prestigious “Colorado Teacher of the Year” award, “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” award, and the American School Band Directors Association’s “Stanbury Award” for both the state of Colorado and the Southwestern United States region. Mike was recently selected to be inducted into the Colorado Music Educator Association's "Music Teacher Hall of Fame".  He is a current member of the Colorado Music Educator’s Association, Phi Beta Mu Honorary Music Fraternity, and the Colorado Association of Music Curriculum Specialists.
