Bio

Dr. Marie Pickerill currently serves in the role of Coordinator of Clinical Education for the Master’s Athletic Training Program at Colorado State University-Pueblo.  She completed her undergraduate education at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and her Master’s Athletic Training Program at the University of Arizona.  As a certified athletic trainer clinician, she has served in many roles from High School Athletic Trainer at Sabino HS in Tucson, AZ to work in the collegiate setting at Division I institutions such as Missouri State University (Springfield, MO), University of Tulsa (Tulsa, OK), and Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN).  After earning a doctorate degree in Sports Medicine from Oregon State University she transitioned into additional academic roles as Clinical Coordinator at Purdue University and Program Director at DePauw University and Indiana State University.  Continuing on a research tract she spent several years at Texas State University focusing on teaching and research with Athletic Training Master’s students.  Research interests include foot injury, postural stability and the lower extremity, clinical education, and cannabis usage in sport.  A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association for over 30 years, she continues a strong interest in Athletic Training education in her role as a site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.  In her free time, she enjoys the many outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer: Skiing, Hiking, Biking, Camping, and Snow Shoeing.  She enjoys this time with her husband and two kids among the other many pets in their household.
