Bio

Dr. Slocum received her MA and PhD in French literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, WI) and a BA in French and English from Albion College (Albion, MI).  Her areas of specialization include twentieth century French literature, particularly theatre, and francophone literatures.  Her research focuses on space and solitude in the works of Jean Genet, Alberto Giacometti, and Antonin Artaud.  She is also interested in poetry, creative writing, and reading contemporary fiction.  She studied abroad in Grenoble, Avignon, and Geneva and taught abroad in Paris.  Dr. Slocum teaches courses in French language and culture, French conversation, French and francophone literature, and French film.
