Kim Cowden

Bio

Dr. Kim Cowden earned her BS in journalism from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She earned her graduate degrees from North Dakota State University

Cowden’s research interests include: public relations, crisis communication, health communication and ethic research collection among American Indian communities. In addition to her scholarship, Cowden has over 20 years of industry experience and operated her own adverting and public relations firm for 15 years.

In September of 2015, Cowden was honored with 2015 Scholar of the Year from the Communication, Speech and Theater Association of North Dakota. In February of 2015, she honored with the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award from the University of North Dakota. Her research has been featured in the Journal of Business Communication, Communication, Culture & Critique and the Journal of Indigenous Research. She has a book chapter in Casing Crises that will be published Fall 2016.

Other Activities

Originally from Minnesota, Cowden recently moved to Pueblo from North Dakota. In her spare time she enjoys playing X box with her son, cooking amazing french meals, and playing the accordion (ya sure you betcha). ​​
