Bio

Early exposure elevated all things musical to an exciting adventure status at a young age. I loved it!  My most profound influence came from my mentor, Roberta Keller, who lit the fire and passion for music for my whole life long.

As a result of this early passion, I was always looking for the exhilaration that quality, deeply felt thrill of beautiful music, that I wanted to experience over and over again.  My schooling took me to Colorado where I met my husband of 48 years the first week I was here.  We were both music teachers for District 70, trying hard to raise the standard of the music program and turning it into a worthwhile experience for our students, trying to instill that lifelong enjoyment of music.

I received my Master's degree in Creative Arts Across the Curriculum from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA.  It changed my life!  Finally I was able to put my love of color, poetry, movement, seasons and beautiful music in a cohesive, positive, creative format for my students.

After retirement, I was still looking for that exhilaration, that thrill, that passion, and founded Bel Canto Children's Choir, which grew into Lyrica Girls' Choir, under the umbrella name of Bella Prima Musica.  Their sound was angelic, the music always classical, and audience members were known to be drawn to tears.

I am very happy to be teaching again now, future teachers who aspire to the career that has given me so much joy.  I hope to pass on the best of what I know - it is so important that we keep quality music education in all schools!
