  • COVID-19 Update: Remote Operations in Effect


    Until further notice, CSU Pueblo is serving our students and the public in a remote model.

Application Criteria / Procedure

The following criteria must be met in order to be considered for admission into the clinical portion of the Athletic Training Program.

  1. Completion of the clinical education application.
    1. Application form obtained from Program Director
    2. Applications and all materials, are DUE back to the Program Director by March 1st, or closest available Monday thereafter.
  2. Completion of AT101, 232, 233, 260, 279, BIOL 223, 223L and BIOL 224, 224L
    1. B Grade or higher in AT 101, 232, 233 and 260, 279
    2. C Grade or higher in BIOL 223 & 223L, 224 & 224L
  3. An overall grade point average of 2.75 or higher
  4. A declared major in Athletic Training
  5. Proof of current First Aid and CPR/AED (Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer level)
  6. Completion of Technical Standards Document
  7. Letter of recommendation from a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer

After submission of application materials Students meeting qualifications will be invited for an interview.

  1. Complete interview with AT Program Director, AT Faculty, and/or Preceptors.

The Athletic Training Program faculty/staff will make the final decisions regarding acceptance into the program based upon the student's total rankings on the admission criteria and available slots in the program. All applying students will receive written notification from the program director indicating their acceptance or denial into the Athletic Training Program. All decisions regarding acceptance are final.  Students not accepted into the undergraduate program, may re-apply for the Master’s Program by completing the EXHPR – Pre-athletic Training Emphasis or completing another 4-year degree and the required prerequisites.

Upon acceptance into the Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletic Training Program, the following will be required:

  1. Overall GPA of 2.75
  2. Completion of a program approved physical exam
  3. Submission of immunization records including all required immunizations
  4. Submission of a Tuberculosis skin test (must be completed yearly)
  5. Provision of reliable transportation to off-campus clinical sites
