Mission Statement

The mission of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletic Training Program is to provide a comprehensive educational experience and a strong clinical foundation to prepare the undergraduate student to enter the allied health profession of athletic training.

Students will acquire experience and skills, which will enable them to demonstrate an understanding of the foundations of human kinetics, and the prevention, assessment, and immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses to the athletic and physically active.   

Program Objectives:

  • Enable the athletic training student to successfully complete and pass the Board of Certification (BOC) Certification Exam;
  • Promote within the athletic training student the philosophy of healthful living as a model of patient care for all physically active individuals;
  • Prepare the athletic training student with required knowledge and opportunity to demonstrate skills and abilities as outlined in the "Athletic Training Educational Competencies";
  • Expose the athletic training student to various practice environments through a variety of field experiences;
  • Prepare the athletic training student for acceptance into graduate athletic training education programs or graduate programs in other healthcare disciplines areas;
  • Facilitate the athletic training student’s transition to practice as an athletic trainer.
