Program Admission

Requirements of the Project CUATRO Program

The CUATRO Program will begin Spring Semester 2022. In both the Spring and Fall semesters, students will need to be registered for 1 research credit in the Department of Biology. Students will be expected to attend monthly Project CUATRO meetings run by Drs. Gillespie and Peterson and attend weekly lab meetings run by your faculty mentors (day and time to be decided by faculty mentors). In addition, there may be additional meetings with your peer mentor, and/or your faculty mentor may choose to start training you in the research laboratory or field.

In the summer, CUATRO students will work in the field or research laboratory to complete their research projects for approximately 2 months, part-time (approximately 20-30 hrs/week). Students must coordinate with their faculty mentors which months/full or part-time they will be working. Summer stipends are $2000.00.

Students will spend the Fall semester 2022 working with their peer and faculty mentors to finish collecting data (if necessary), entering and analyzing data, and preparing their presentations for the research symposiums. Each student is expected to present their research at a symposium at CSUP in the fall of 2022.

Admission to the CUATRO Program:

  • Students must be in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.0) at CSU Pueblo or CCC.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits) during Spring 2022 and Fall 2022.
  • CSU Pueblo students must be undergraduate standing as a Biology, Wildlife & Natural Resources, Chemistry, or Cannabis Biology & Chemistry major

If you are interested in applying for CUATRO, visit the Research Opportunities page and read through the available opportunities to identify which faculty mentor’s research is of interest. We encourage each student to contact the faculty mentor(s), express your interest, and find out more information about whether their research is a good fit for you. When you are ready to apply, visit and fill out the application below.
