Diversity Training

The Center provides diversity training to students and employees. Current Trainings include:

Safe Zone - A workshop that aims to increase awareness about heterosexism and homophobia, educates participates about sexual minorities, gender, gender identity, and assumptions regarding tenets of sex and gender. Safe Zone hopes that everyone involved will help create a more receptive and nurturing climate by supporting LGBTQ students, staff, faculty, and community guests.

UndocuAlly - builds awareness around the lived experience of undocumented students. Participants will learn more about terminology, policy, what it means to be undocumented, and ways to be an effective ally.

Supporting First Generation College Students - Participants will learn more about the challenges and strengths of being the first in your family to go to college and ways to advance the success of first generation college students.

Micro-Aggression Training - As Professor of Colombia University Derald Wing Sue puts it, Micro-Aggressions are brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative racial slights and insults toward the other. Racial Micro-Aggressions are the brief and everyday slights, insults, indignities and denigrating messages sent to people by well-intentioned people who are unaware of the hidden messages being communicated. In this training, participants will gain awareness about micro-aggressions and ways to respond.
