This event will provide a brief history on the criminalization of protest and the implications for the U.S. public and students interested in social justice. Speakers will discuss recent examples of political repression of social movements, focusing on Standing Rock and the inauguration day protests in Washington, D.C. Jude from Tilted Scales will speak on a recently published book entitled "A Tilted Guide to Being a Defendant" and Leah from Queen City Defense Committee will speak on the legal issues related to "J20": the inauguration day protests.
