Childcare
Early Childhood Education Management Systems:

Early Childhood Education Management Systems at CSU Pueblo child care provides outstanding programs for children ages 12 months through 6 years of age and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. ECEMS offers a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of university students with children; these include part-time classes in the morning or afternoon, as well as full or half-day childcare. Parents can also pick the number of days per week they need care.
Staff:
We have an excellent ongoing staff training and development program that includes 32 hours of onboard training prior to new staff working in the classroom with the children. Each classroom has a mentor teacher who guides and coaches new staff. Staff in-services, classroom, and teacher observations are done throughout the year to improve classroom management and teaching skills.
Classrooms:
We have three classrooms, a toddler, and two pre-kindergarten classrooms. The toddler classroom serves children 12 to 36 months
Pre-K classrooms serve children 3 to 5 years during the school year and up to 6 years during summer months. In all our classrooms we use the Creative Curriculum®, which is a nationally recognized, research-based, child/family-centered curriculum. Teachers observe and document the children’s activities. The documentation is then used to assess where each child is developmentally in the areas of social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Assessments are used to determine the next steps in the lesson planning process for the group as well as individual children. We also incorporate the project approach so children may explore deeply into an area of interest. Parents are viewed as collaborators with the teachers and children in this learning process.
Monthly Activity Planner for Family Participation
ECEMS at CSU Pueblo Child Care believes parents are an integral part of the center’s life. A trusting and mutually respectful relationship between school and home is essential to the success of the child’s experience at the center. Family members and other people important in the children’s lives are a welcomed part of our school community.
