    Documentation of Financial Support

A financial statement regarding the resources available to the student during his or her stay in the United States is required. The combined amount of resources available to the student (and any dependents for whom the student is seeking a visa) must meet or exceed the annual cost of attendance.

Acceptable examples of financial support are:

    • A Certificate of Balance from a bank or other financial institution that is dated within the last six months which identifies the account owner by name, identifies the currency type, provides the account balance as of the end of the statement period, identifies the bank or financial institution address, and bears the signature and stamp of the bank or financial institution official. Sample Certificate of Balance.
    • A Formal Loan Agreement from a lender dated within the last 30 days which identifies the borrower by name, identifies the currency type for the loan, provides the guaranteed loan amount, identifies the address of the lending institution, and bears the signature and stamp of the lending institution official.

    Student Visa Requirements

Colorado State University Pueblo will issue a form I-20 to student applicants (and any accompanying dependents) after all documents required for admission are received and the student has been admitted. The I-20 is a required form to obtain the student (F-1) visa from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Obtaining and Maintaining a Student Visa:

    1. Complete the SEVIS form (I-901) and pay the SEVIS fee. This can be completed using a paper or an online option (see link). If completing a paper form, please take this action as early as possible to allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement time to receive and process.
    2. Contact the nearest American Embassy Visa Section and arrange an interview. The Form I-20 is issued to you by CSU Pueblo. Proof of SEVIS payment, and any other documentation required by the embassy, must be presented at the time of the interview.
    3. Visit Colorado State University Pueblo’s Office of the Registrar upon arrival to campus. CSU Pueblo is required to ensure that you have arrived on campus.

For more information about the SEVIS form and fee, please visit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

    Transfer and Graduate Students:

Students who have previously attended another college/university in the United States must also provide a SEVIS Release Form completed by the prior college/university in order for CSU Pueblo to issue a new I-20.
